Challenge

Since May 25, 2018, the EU Data Protection Basic Regulation (DSGVO) requires that all organizations worldwide request the consent of EU citizens whose personal data they wish to process. 
The so-called ‘Legitimate Interest’ will likely be replaced by explicit consent in any case of data processing.

The soon to come ePrivacy Regulation, as well as standardizations like the IAB Europe TCF simultaneously increase market pressure on media owners to implement a Consent Management Strategy for the collection of active user consent.

Approach

So far, vonwerschpartner has guided more than 20 publishers and other media companies through the necessary steps of implementing a consent management strategy, and corresponding operational approaches.

Projects typically start by providing an overview of regulatory framework and market standardization, as well as supporting the launch of „Consent Management“ in the organization holistically and efficiently in all relevant process steps – from user data strategy to operational implementation. Furthermore, we assist in the conception of User Experience for consent management, the strategic development of a “No-Consent-Strategy” and long term business strategy for publishers, including 1st party data setup.
